On November 27, 2024, Sébastien Simon made history in ocean racing by setting a new world record for distance covered in 24 hours : more than 600 nautical miles. Aboard his IMOCA equipped with Incidence Sails, he outperformed the limits of navigation, combining technical mastery and exceptional performance. A performance even more remarkable as it was achieved in conditions that he himself describes as “relatively safe for the boat”, with two reefs in the mainsail and a FRO.
The reaction of Maxime Paul, designer of Sébastien Simon’s sails at Incidence Sails
“The record set by Sébastien Simon is a real technical and sporting achievement. Seeing your IMOCA flying alone at more than 25 knots for 24 hours is something irrational. Finally, this record is foremost due to the combination of exceptional weather conditions and Sébastien’s total commitment.
It shows how much the new foilers have progressed, just like our sails, which have evolved to adapt to these new speeds and flight constraints. It is clearly a source of pride to contribute to such an accomplishement. “

In extreme conditions with winds measured at 35 knots, Sébastien Simon takes us on the deck of his IMOCA for a delicate maneuver : taking a reef in the mainsail. An impressive immersion that demonstrates the Dantesque challenges that the skippers must face.
"It's going to be a very unpleasant 48 hours. I hope it goes well, I'm a little worried. "
